Together with two NFDI consortia and two data competency centers, we organized a workshop ‘Research Data and Software Competencies’. It received funding from the Volkswagenstiftung as part of the ‘Themenwoche Digitale Kompetenzen in der Wissenschaft’ and took place at Schloss Herrenhausen in Hannover in December 2024. Participants focused on three questions regarding essential research data and software competencies, their effective teaching, and collaboration for developing educational resources. Key outcomes include improved mutual understanding and the identification of common interests.

Our group hosted the 1st Base4NFDI User Conference (UC4B 2024) in Berlin. Base4NFDI is an initiative that will develop and offer a set of common shared RDM enabling services to the NFDI community. Base4NFDI supports this via an iterative three-step process, allowing a participatory path to roll-out and, importantly, gaining consensus from the NFDI community along the way. Our group participated in ESWC 2024 in Hersonissos, Crete and ISWC 2024 in Baltimore, USA this year. At these events, we organized 3 workshops. At ESWC 2024, we organized the ‘1st International Workshop on Natural Scientific Language Processing and Research Knowledge Graphs (NSLP 2024)’ and the ‘4th Workshop on Metadata and Research (Objects) Management for Linked Open Science (DaMaLOS 2024)’. At ISWC 2024, we organized the ‘4th International Workshop on Scientific Knowledge: Representation, Discovery and Assessment (Sci-K 2024)’.
