Our group participated in SEMANTICS 2024 in Amsterdam, Netherlands this year. We published our paper ‘Exploring Prompt Generation Utilizing Graph Search Algorithms for Ontology Matching’ co-authored by Julian Sampels, Sefika Efeoglu and Sonja Schimmler. It has been an outcome of our project class. Read the paper here. We also published a poster ‘NFDI4DSO: Towards a BFO Compliant Ontology for Data Science’ co-authored by Genet Asefa Gesese, Jörg Waitelonis, Zongxiong Chen, Sonja Schimmler and Harald Sack. It was written in the context of the project NFDI4DS.

In summer semester 2024 the group offered the module ‘Project Advanced Research Data Infrastructures’ the first time. In this module, students work on a practical project of limited size. For this purpose, a software component related to a given topic is specified, implemented, tested and documented. The topics provided vary from semester to semester, and allow exploring new and emerging technologies of one or more of the following fields: Semantic Web, Linked Data and Knowledge Graphs; Data Management and Data Infrastructures; Quality of Data and FAIRness of Data; Language Models, Natural Language Processing; Information Extraction, Text Summarization, Question Answering, Recommendation

We are happy to announce that today is the start of the BMBF-funded project QUADRIGA. The data competency center QUADRIGA combines four disciplines: digital humanities and public administration, supported by computer and information science. It is situated in Berlin-Brandenburg and focuses on the three data types, text, tables and videos. Our role is the scientific co-lead of the project and to develop a navigator that gives an interactive overview of the learning materials available within QUADRIGA.
